- WorkBright+ manages your entire I-9 and E-Verify process from start to finish.
- AI-powered technology and compliance experts work together to manage routine and complex cases.
- WorkBright+ is indemnified, so we take responsibility for covered errors within the work we manage.
Do any of these situations sound familiar?
...A new hire finishes Section 1, but Section 2 still needs to be completed within 3 days.
...An employee's work authorization is approaching expiration, so someone needs to start the reverification process.
...An I-9 correction lands in the queue, along with the next batch of new hires waiting to move through the process.
HR and compliance teams know that I-9 management is a constant cycle of monitoring, follow-up, corrections, and deadlines, with someone on the team responsible for making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
If you're nodding along and thinking to yourself, "it's practically an entire job in and of itself," we couldn't agree more.
That's why we designed our latest offering, WorkBright+. It's full-service I-9 management that takes the I-9 and E-Verify lifecycle off your team's plate. That's right—TPS/EAD tracking, reverifications, photo match cases—the whole deal. Here's a look at how we do it and how we stand behind our work.
What is WorkBright+?
In short, WorkBright+ is our full-service I-9 management offering for employers that want to hand off the day-to-day work of I-9 and E-Verify compliance. A team of compliance experts works hand-in-hand with trained AI agents to keep the process moving from the initial I-9 through ongoing employment eligibility requirements.
It starts with the basics: getting employees through the I-9 process and ensuring Section 2 is completed accurately and on time. From there, WorkBright+ manages the follow-up work, including E-Verify cases, Tentative Nonconfirmations, reverification, TPS and EAD tracking, corrections, and ongoing monitoring.
The service is designed to work in the background of your HR operation. Employees get the support and workflows they need, while your team maintains visibility into the process and remains in control of employment decisions, and WorkBright handles the operational work.
That means when the next deadline pops up or a regulation changes, your HR team doesn't have to be the one remembering it, finding the right workflow, and figuring out what happens next.
How do we use AI?
Compliance is a place where you can't simply plug in AI and let it run. The technology needs to be built around the rules, workflows, and edge cases that make I-9 management different from a typical administrative process (our CEO, Chapelle Ryon, talked all about this in a recent webinar).
WorkBright+ pairs AI technology with I-9 compliance expertise from the start. Our AI works to:
- Analyze information submitted throughout the I-9 process and help identify missing, inconsistent, or potentially problematic information that may need attention.
- Surface items that may require review so potential problems don't sit unnoticed in the workflow or get discovered later.
- Provide employees and employers with support for common I-9 questions, helping keep straightforward cases moving without requiring a compliance specialist for every interaction.
- Take action within defined workflows based on the information and status of a case, helping manage routine follow-up and keep I-9s moving toward completion.
- Keep track of important I-9 and E-Verify deadlines, including workflow milestones and upcoming compliance actions, so cases don't depend on someone remembering to check them manually.
- Support document-related processes with capabilities such as OCR, document verification, fraud detection, selfie comparison, and liveness verification
The important part is knowing where AI should act, where it should flag something for review, and where a compliance expert needs to step in.
WorkBright uses attorney-vetted workflows that inform how the technology is used throughout the process, helping ensure that automation supports the compliance process rather than treating every I-9 situation the same.
Where compliance experts step in
Some I-9 situations are straightforward, but many others require someone to take a closer look. That's where WorkBright+'s compliance experts come in.
WorkBright+ specialists are trained compliance professionals who support employers and employees throughout the Form I-9 and E-Verify process. Each specialist supporting these workflows is both E-Verify certified and WorkBright certified, combining federal program knowledge with training on WorkBright's I-9 workflows, platform processes, escalation handling, and customer support standards.
When a case falls outside a standard workflow or needs additional review, a trained specialist can step in and work through the issue. A few examples of what they manage:
- Look at the information and history behind a case when something doesn't follow the expected workflow, helping identify what needs to be addressed and what information may be missing.
- Review cases that require additional attention, including Tentative Nonconfirmations, and help manage the appropriate follow-up while keeping the employer informed.
- Monitor upcoming work authorization expirations and help guide the appropriate reverification workflow when an employee's temporary work authorization needs to be addressed.
- Help identify and work through corrections when an I-9 contains an issue that requires more than an automated workflow.
- Take a closer look when a case doesn't fit a standard process, using their I-9 and E-Verify knowledge to help determine the appropriate next steps.
And you're not handing your employees off to a call center or a notary network. WorkBright+ provides dedicated compliance specialists who support each account and work directly with employees throughout the process.
In summary, AI can surface a potential issue or route a case for review, giving the specialist the information and context they need to understand what happened and determine what needs to happen next. The employer always remains responsible for employment eligibility and hiring decisions, while WorkBright+ manages the compliance work surrounding those decisions.
What does your HR team see?
Handing off the work doesn't mean handing over control. Your team has visibility into your managed I-9 operation through the WorkBright administrative portal, which provides access to case status, reporting, and proactive updates.
Elevated and escalated cases are visible within the platform, weekly summaries provide a consolidated view of cases that may need attention, and real-time escalation notifications let your team know when employer action is required.
WorkBright+ manages the work, but your team stays connected to what's happening across your workforce. You don't have to chase every case to know where things stand.
How we stand behind our work
Handing off I-9 management means putting an important compliance process in someone else's hands. We think that comes with accountability. That's why WorkBright+ includes indemnification for eligible fines associated with errors that WorkBright+ was responsible for managing. If an audit identifies an eligible fine resulting from an error within our responsibility, WorkBright covers that fine.
We also support you if you are audited by ICE. If you receive an NOI and undergo an audit, we provide an attorney of record to represent and support you, covering select legal costs associated with that representation.
